A master craftsman takes polishing to the ultimate level.
The Nissan GT-R, a legendary supercar, is known for its mastery at every touchpoint. The craftsmanship that goes into making the model is carried out with the utmost precision, with each part built and finished meticulously.
At the Tochigi Plant, a master craftsman, called takumi, brings the GT-R’s polishing to the ultimate level, using sensitive hands and sharp eyes to inspect, check and then polish each coat to perfection. This story explains the discipline behind the polishing process for the model year 2017 GT-R*.
* The takumi hand-polishing process is limited to select colors of the 2017 Nissan GT-R, such as “Ultimate Metal Silver,” in the Japan region.
Nissan displays quartet of historic sports cars – plus the new 2018 370Z Heritage Edition – at 30th annual Z Car Convention
Nissan helps celebrate all things Nissan Z® at the 30th annual International Z Car Convention (ZCON) in Austin, Texas. Hosted by the Z Car Club Association, the annual event hosts Datsun and Nissan Z® car enthusiasts from around the world.
Nissan will display four historic vehicles: the Prince R380 race car, a 1971 240Z, a custom-built 300ZX which served as a PPG Pace Car in the '90s, and the original 1999 Z® concept that paved the way for the introduction of the 350Z.
Also at this year's ZCON, Nissan will be showcasing the 2018 370Z Heritage Edition, which made its debut at the 2017 New York International Auto Show. Available on the base 370Z Coupe, the best-selling and most affordable trim level, the Heritage Edition package is offered in two exterior colors – Chicane Yellow and Magnetic Black. This week is the first time that both the Chicane Yellow and Magnetic Black 370Z Heritage Editions will be shown together.
The widely anticipated new Nissan LEAF will feature state-of-the-art ProPILOT Assist technology, Nissan's driver-assistance technology that reduces the hassle of stop-and-go highway driving.
ProPILOT Assist supports drivers by helping control acceleration, braking and steering during single-lane driving on the highway.
In the coming years, Nissan's ProPILOT technology will offer increasing levels of autonomy, with the system eventually able to navigate city intersections. Set to help make driving more secure and more enjoyable, ProPILOT Assist is part of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the company's blueprint for transforming how cars are driven, powered and integrated into society.
By launching the LEAF, the world's first mass-market electric vehicle, Nissan established itself as a pioneer in the EV movement. Today the Nissan LEAF is the world's best-selling electric vehicle with more than 270,000 sold worldwide.

The Nissan 370Z Roadster was named the "Best Performance Roadster" by the Southern Automotive Media Association (SAMA) during the independent media group's annual "Topless in Miami" event. The iconic 370Z was noted for its styling, the ease of its convertible top operation, its quietness and, of course, its performance. More than two dozen vehicles were included in the annual event, in which vehicles are judged in various categories.
"Since it returned to the market over a decade ago, the 370Z has been a fine example of what a sports car is all about – comfort, fun, and an exhilarating driving performance in one package," said Jaime Florez, SAMA president. "It is always a popular entry among our members, who have recognized it as best in its class twice in the seven years of competition."
Nissan to offer standard Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) on one million U.S. vehicles in 2018 model year
Nissan today announced that it is making Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) standard on a projected one million vehicles sold in the United States for model year 2018, including seven of the company's most popular models – Rogue/Rogue Sport, Altima, Murano, LEAF, Pathfinder, Maxima and Sentra (except manual transmission-equipped and all NISMO versions).
AEB (previously known as Forward Emergency Braking) uses radar technology to monitor a vehicle's proximity to the vehicle ahead, giving the driver audible and visual display warnings to help the driver reduce the vehicle's speed if a potential frontal collision is detected. If the driver fails to respond, the AEB system can apply the brakes, helping the driver to avoid the collision or reduce the speed of impact if it is unavoidable.
According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) data, one-third of all police-reported crashes involve a rear-end collision (2013 study). The NHTSA also reports that systems such as AEB can help reduce injury insurance claims by as much as 35 percent (2015 report).
